Promoting design, innovation and creativity
Design, innovation and creativity are part of Roca’s DNA in its day-to-day operations. The brand also promotes these values by fostering initiatives that provide visibility to the talent of young architecture and design professionals and students. The global nature of these actions, which include two international design competitions with participants from the five continents, provides a very different vision of the future of the bathroom space and its link to today’s most important challenges, as set out by United Nations in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Roca One Day Design Challenge is a design competition which takes place every year in different cities around the world. Students and professionals of the design and architecture fields under the age of 30 are challenged to create original and innovative products related to the bathroom space, in just one day. The members of the jury are renowned professionals of each country that value the originality, creativity and feasibility of the ideas, presented in a 9-hour time limit.
For almost 20 years, jumpthegap® was an international design competition organised by Roca in partnership with the Barcelona Design Centre. It aimed to showcase the ingenuity and skill of both students and professionals in creating imaginative, innovative, and daring bathroom solutions. These solutions were intended to address various challenges outlined in the United Nations' 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, covering areas such as health, hygiene, environmental protection, diversity, and equitable access to technological progress.
