Kay collection

Designed to be both sculptural and functional.

The Kay collection is an exploration of presence. Striking a balance between strength and precision, it redefines the squarish faucet with clarity.

The Inspiration

The inspiration for Kay comes from the harbour bollard - a silent force that holds steady against the water. In the harbour, it anchors ships against shifting tides; in the bathroom, Kay becomes the silent guarantee of water itself. Strength and certainty unite them, shaping a presence that is not decorative, but essential. Like a mooring post in a harbour, Kay is designed for permanence - a fixed point in a changing environment, standing with quiet certainty as the spaces around it evolve.

Kay’s flat front surface and semi-circular body create a distinct geometric contrast, bringing sharpness and softness into balance. The straight, carefully measured spout ensures an evenly, controlled water flow, while the sculpted body creates fluid transitions that feel natural to the touch. Crafted from cast brass, it achieves both durability and a sculptural presence, reinforcing its refined yet robust character. Available in six curated finishes and cold-water start, Kay adapts effortlessly to any contemporary architectural context.

Fusing Innovation & Passion

Designed by Stefan Diez, Kay marks a new collaboration between Roca and one of Germany’s leading industrial designers. Diez brings a perspective rooted in essentiality - where design is not about adding more, but about refining what is still relevant. His approach challenges convention, pushing materials and production methods towards more efficient, durable and intelligent solutions.

With a shared commitment to material efficiency and formal clarity, Kay evolved through a process of rigorous experimentation and reduction, where every detail was carefully considered. The result is a faucet collection that strips away excess, reducing form to its purest expression. It is a reinterpretation of squarish design, making it lighter, more dynamic and architecturally integrated.

Roca’s deep expertise in precision engineering and material innovation makes this collaboration a natural fit. The result is a collection that combines industrial craftsmanship with a sculptural sensibility — a faucet that feels as much like an architectural object as it does a functional fixture.

Casting Form & Materiality

Kay’s form is made possible by cast brass, a process that allows for sharp edges, smooth transitions and uncompromising precision, giving the faucet a sculptural presence that goes beyond mere functionality. Casting gives Kay a tactile quality, where the surfaces feel as though they have been sculpted rather than simply engineered.

Kay is available in six curated finishes — chrome, matt black, matt white, brushed brass, brushed graphite and stainless steel finish — ensuring versatility in a range of architectural spaces. Whether placed in a minimalist setting or a bold interior, Kay maintains a strong yet understated presence.

The brushed brass and stainless steel finishes are enhanced with the exclusive Everlux — a high performance PVD coating applied through a purely physical process. This additional layer, derived from ultra-durable metals, significantly improves scratch resistance and durability.

The collection is defined by its flat front surface and semi-circular body, a contrast that gives the faucet its distinct identity. The floating handle, which appears almost weightless above the body, is the result of extensive engineering refinement that reduces traditional bulk while maintaining seamless function.

Key features

Rethinking Interaction

Kay introduces a fundamental shift in the way we interact with water. This principle is embedded in Kay’s approach to water use, eliminating outdated habits and replacing them with intuitive design choices. The traditional blue indicator for cold water has been removed entirely. Cold is the default, so there is no need to mark it; instead, a small, embedded red inlay subtly indicates hot water. This considered detail replaces traditional hot water markings, ensuring durability and seamless functionality over time.

By removing unnecessary visual clutter and making interaction more intuitive, Kay refines not only form, but also function, ensuring a more conscious use of resources without compromising usability.

Enhancing Adaptability

The Kay collection extends across a comprehensive range, offering solutions for various architectural contexts. Basin mixers are available in standard and XL sizes, while the elegant three-hole configuration introduces a refined level of sophistication. Built-in two- and threehole options allow for seamless integration into both contemporary and traditional settings. Wall-mounted bath and shower mixers, including RocaBox-compatible models, provide greater design flexibility.

With water-saving aerators that limit flow to five liters per minute, Kay balances performance with sustainability while maintaining a precise, controlled water flow. Every faucet undergoes testing for over one million opening and closing cycles, ensuring long-term durability and flawless function.

Designing the New Standard

Kay began as a singular piece - a distilled expression of strength, balance and precision. But as the design evolved, it became clear that this was more than just an object; it was the foundation for an entire collection. Each component was developed with the same clarity and intent, ensuring a seamless design language across different configurations. The collaboration between Roca and Diez Office transformed Kay from an individual statement into a versatile system anchored in material integrity and engineered for lasting presence.

Kay is not just the product of one designer’s vision; it is the result of collective intelligence, where every decision was shaped by expertise, precision and a shared commitment to meaningful design. Kay is bold, but never heavy. It holds its presence without overwhelming the space. Like the bollard in the harbour, Kay stands firm - not seeking attention, but defining its space with quiet certainty.

A fusion of German industrial precision and Spanish design expertise, Kay is a faucet that speaks the language of architecture; direct, deliberate and built to last. It is not a reinterpretation of the past, but the new standard.

Squarish, but not static. Lean, but not rigid. Strong, but never heavy.

Stefan Diez

Stefan Diez is a German industrial designer known for his innovative approach to materials, circularity and production methods. Trained as a cabinetmaker before studying under Richard Sapper, he founded Diez Office in 2003. His Munich-based studio collaborates with brands such as Rosenthal, Thonet, HAY, Magis and Vibia, shaping products that merge industrial precision with a human-centered design philosophy. Since 2018, Diez has led Industrial Design at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, mentoring the next generation of designers.

At the core of his work are his Circular Design Guidelines, which promote durability, repairability and adaptability — minimizing environ - mental impact while ensuring long-term relevance. In the development of Kay, designer Madeleine Wieser played a key role, ensuring that its design reflects Diez Office’s commitment to precision, material intelli - gence and essential form.

“A faucet is one of the few elements in a home that we physically interact with daily. It should feel intuitive, effortless—like architecture you hold in your hand.”
