AN INSTALLATION FROM ROCA
FUORISALONE 2022
Influence is a multi-sensory installation produced by Roca and designed by Barcelona-based Cobalto Studio for Fuorisalone 2022.
Conceived as a large-scale architectural sculpture, Influence explores the landscapes and lifestyles of the Mediterranean, linking them to contemporary artistic practices. It draws inspiration from Roca’s new Ona collection, as well as from regional vernacular architecture and the talaiots, megalithic stone structures native to the Balearic Islands.
Influence seeks to induce the sense of peace and natural wonder evoked by immersion in the cool waters of the sea. To achieve this, it employs a specially designed illumination concept which uses wave data collected by a network of buoys off the Menorcan coast. The fluctuations of the waves have been recorded, translated into light forms and projected throughout the space, accompanied by field recordings of their sounds. The result is a hypnotic sensation of being submerged in gently pulsing waves, bathing the visitor in golden light.

Ona Collection
Ona is Roca’s newest collection for the bathroom space, combining innovative design and cutting-edge technology to achieve new standards of hygiene, comfort, and sustainability. Like traditional Mediterranean architecture, Ona employs soft shapes and warm colors to create spaces of wellness, purity and connection.
Throughout the space can be found selected pieces from the Ona collection, whose organic shapes and soft colours are an ideal elaboration of the vernacular Mediterranean aesthetic which forms the basis of the installation. Distinctly elegant without sacrificing warmth, highly functional yet simple and harmonious, both Influence and Ona are designed for those who appreciate the beguiling power of pure landscapes.
Cobalto Studio
Cobalto Studio is a multidisciplinary creative workshop founded in 2015 in Barcelona by art director and designer Gabriel Escámez. The studio investigates Mediterranean culture and its idiosyncratic artistic and cultural expressions, promoting its richness and singularity while investing it with a contemporary sensibility.
Cobalto draws from the folklore, popular crafts and vernacular architecture of the Mediterranean. At the core of the studio’s practice is the exploration of regional heritage and popular culture, and a desire to understand the relationship between traditional knowledge and current artistic practices and techniques.
