“The bathroom design plays a very important role within the project. It is often the element within a guests experience that defines their overall impression of the hotel.” Jonathan Hayes, design consultant, Manhattan Loft Corporation

Situated in the heart of King’s Cross, one of London’s busiest railway hubs, the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel is both a historic landmark and a modern icon. Originally designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott and opened in 1873 as the Midland Grand Hotel, its Victorian Gothic façade has long been a symbol of the city’s architectural splendour.

Incorporating Roca bathroom solutions into the refurbishment of the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel was about more than just aesthetics; it was about choosing products that could meet the complex demands of modern hospitality within a 19th century building.

Elegant Functionality

Roca worked closely with the architect and client to ensure that the bathrooms offered a serene, functional space that reflected the grandeur of the property itself. “Roca offered a robust and flexible product in a renovation situation,” explains Jonathan Hayes of the Manhattan Loft Corporation. “During the model room phase of the project Roca was able to offer a variety of products which could be tested within the bathroom spaces and the various advantages reviewed against each other,” says Hayes.

Roca’s products were chosen for their design and innovative technology, as well as their ability to create an atmosphere of understated luxury. The Ona wall-hung rimless toilet with its sleek design and Roca Rimless® technology, enhances both hygiene and space efficiency, while the soft-closing Supralit® toilet seat and cover add a touch of comfort and practicality. Together, these elements transform the bathroom into a space that feels both luxurious and highly functional.

The Ona wall-hung Fineceramic® basin in matt white finish also demonstrates Roca’s commitment to combining aesthetics with cutting-edge technology. The delicate, yet durable material allows for intricate shapes and thin walls that seamlessly integrate with the minimalist steel rod support system. This harmony of form and function makes it a striking focal point in the bathroom, ideally suited to the needs of a luxury environment.

Chosen for its aesthetics and durability, the Pyros Superslim Stonex® shower tray with its ultra-thin profile and discreet linear drain, also contributes to a clean and uncluttered look. More than just a design feature, the tray’s adaptability to bespoke dimensions was crucial in meeting the unique constraints of this listed building.

A Seamless Integration of Past and Present

This collaboration between Roca and the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel is an example of how thoughtful design and cutting-edge technology can enhance even the most historic of spaces, creating a timeless synergy between Victorian elegance and contemporary comfort.
