Contemporary elegance defines the Leon Hotel in Budapest, a 4-star property that sits on the historic Buda side of the Danube River. The hotel’s distinctive character bridges the city’s ancient Roman past and 19th-century elegance with contemporary digital art and design creating a memorable stay in this dynamic city. Roca contributed to the hotel’s bathrooms, including private rooms and studios, as well as the lobby and lounge area, providing bathroom solutions that merged seamlessly into the hotel’s sophisticated design concept.
The Hotel Leon features 48 uniquely designed rooms and studios that reflect a harmonious blend of comfort, style, and artistic flair — some offering views of the river or the Buda Castle. The construction was overseen by Market Építő ZRT, well-known for high-level real estate development for the private and commercial sector. The site has a renowned past as a former palace and stable, and certain architectural features still remain, including centuries-old stone walls. Leather chairs and sofas in black and brown, contemporary lighting, stone, glass and metal are some key design elements within the overall design of the hotel. This modern style carries over into the bathrooms, where bold colours such as emerald green or terracotta combine with marble walls, white ceramics and matt black details. Several Roca collections, including Ona and Victoria, complemented the hotel’s style, and ensured comfort and accessibility.
Space, light and geometry are essential elements in the bathroom design of the Leon Hotel. In the large top floor studio, an open-plan bathroom is anchored by the freestanding Ariane bath, which is situated so as to give incredible views of the river and city while you soak. The Ona collection is used to articulate clarity and proportion: the floorstanding bath-shower faucet draws a vertical line that complements the height of the studio, while the Ona basin faucet introduces a quieter horizontal rhythm. Together, these pieces provide visual coherence.
The pared-back geometry and polished finish of the Stella Stick hand shower and Raindream round shower head enhance the industrial nuance of the bathroom design while maintaining a refined, contemporary tone. The result is a layered aesthetic in which art deco references emerge subtly through material richness and curved silhouettes rather than overt ornamentation.
The bold and timeless appeal of chrome is spotlighted in the Victoria Plus deck-mounted bath filler and Ona basin faucet which play against the sophisticated dark red marble walls and terracotta details in many private rooms. The Victoria Plus kitchen faucet contributes to this continuity, extending the same design language beyond the bathroom. While in the public bathroom spaces, the Proton Roca Rimless® ceramic urinal responds to the high-volume demands while retaining the visual clarity that defines the project as a whole.
Access collection including the basin and grab rails have been used in certain bathrooms to accommodate mobility concerns. Accessories such as Hotels collection toilet roll holders, with or without shelfs, Sonata’s mounted toilet brush holder in matt black and Adele soap dishes unite the space in detail and shape.
When it comes to hotel design, bathrooms are sanctuaries that extend the guest’s feeling of relaxation and escape. Roca offered The Leon the ideal solution, enhancing the overall design of the property and bringing confidence and reliability for everyday personal use.
Tonwell Tower is more than a unique renovation—it’s a blueprint how repurposing historic structures can become sustainable and comfortable living spaces. Through its collaboration with Roca, the tower underscores how smart bathroom design can elevate everyday living, contributing meaningfully to both environmental goals and personal wellbeing.
