Context: A Fusion of Creativity and Heritage

Concordia Design – located in Wrocław, Poland – is a contemporary creative hub, featuring coworking spaces, an event centre, an upscale restaurant, and a striking roof terrace that overlooks the city’s Słodowa Island. The over-7,000m-square-metre project, led by Dutch office MVRDV in collaboration with Polish practice Q2 Studio, combines the renovation of a 19th-century tenement house with a new extension to the existing fabric. Representatives of over 70 companies use Concordia Design on a daily basis for the work, while the interiors were recognised in 2021 with a coveted ArchDaily Building of the Year award.

Commission: Universal Comfort and Exceptional Performance

As with the entire building, it was crucial that the bathrooms deliver a sense of comfort that’s universal, as their users may come from different worlds,” explains Q2 Studio director Maciej Janczyk. It’s for this reason, together with the need for a pared-down design language, high hygiene standards and, last but not least, “products that perform exceptionally well in public interiors” that the office turned to Roca when it came to specifying the right brand for the bathroom spaces.

Collaboration: Elevating Architectural and Design Standards

“Working on projects like Concordia Design, where you need to achieve a very high standard of architectural and design quality, timing is extremely important,” explains Janczyk. “The deadlines are many, and there is no room for mistakes. That’s why our collaboration with Roca supports us majorly in our work, ensuring that everything is supplied and installed, just in time, with no problem.” The Concordia Design project saw a range of Roca products specified, including the Debba wall-hung basin, the Nexo urinal and the Rimless suspended toilet bowl. L20 electronic faucets and Victoria washbasin faucets with a medical handle were also selected to complete the bathroom landscape.

Completion: A Successful Partnership and a Testimony to Quality and Excellence

What does the final result demonstrate to architects, planners and, most of all, investors? "We’re very happy that Roca bathroom products form part of this major project investment,” says Dariusz Rzeźnicki, Investment Coordinator from the local Roca team in Poland. “It proves not only that they are of good quality, practical and functional, but, moreover, that we are ready to face the most difficult challenges of the best and most ambitious architects and their demanding designs.” But it’s just as much about service and partnership as it is about hardware. Rzeźnicki explains: “We build really good relations with companies in the process, who appreciate our commitment and involvement in the work. We also make sure we cultivate a good relationship with architects so that we can meet their strict design requirements – and, of course, budgets.”
